Your Driving Test, Sorted
One hour on the exact routes the examiner runs out of your local centre. Then the same car on test day. No surprises, no panic.
What a Pretest Lesson Is
Half the people who fail the test will tell you the route was fine. What surprised them was the marking.
The examiner's fault sheet doesn't care that you knew the road. It cares that you checked the mirror three seconds before, signalled clearly, and approached the junction at the speed that matched the visibility.
A pretest is one full hour against that fault sheet, run on the same routes the examiner uses out of your local centre. We do it in the dual-controlled car you'll sit the actual test in. Then we hand you the marked sheet and tell you the two faults to clear before you sit the real one.
Some people pass on the first sit. Most don't. A pretest cuts the gap between the first try and the second.
Pretest at a Glance
How the Pretest Runs
Three steps from the booking call to the test pass.
Book the Slot
Tell us your test centre and date. We assign an instructor who knows the local routes by heart.
Run the Routes
One hour on the exact roads the examiner uses. Your instructor scores you against the actual fault sheet.
Sit the Test
Same car, same instructor pickup, same routes. The examiner takes over from there.
What the Examiner Watches
Four fault types account for most failed tests across Leinster.
Observation
Mirror checks, blind-spot checks, the look at the right time. The most common fault on the sheet.
Position
Where the car sits on the lane, the approach to the junction, the line through the roundabout.
Speed
Speed for the conditions, not the limit. Slow is a fault. Too fast on a wet bend is the same fault.
Decisions
Right of way, hesitation at a give-way, missing a gap because you were unsure. Decision marks build up.
A pretest lesson scores you against the same sheet, in the same car, on the same routes. You walk away with the two or three things to clear before the real one.

Test routes vary by centre. Your instructor knows the routes out of the centre you're booked at, including the junction quirks the examiner favours.
Pretest, Common Questions
One full hour. We use the entire hour driving the actual routes used by the examiner out of your local centre.
Yes. The pretest price includes car hire for the driving test itself. You sit the test in the same dual-controlled car you practised in. There's no need to arrange your own car.
At least one week before your test. Two is better in busy periods like September and January. The route knowledge needs a day or two to settle before the test.
Every Leinster RSA centre. Carlow, Naas, Kilkenny, Mullingar, Athlone, Tullamore, Portlaoise, Longford, Drogheda, Dundalk, Navan, Wicklow, Wexford, Gorey, plus the four Dublin centres at Finglas, Tallaght, Raheny, and Churchtown.
The pretest is for learners who have completed or nearly completed the twelve EDT lessons. If you've still got a few to go, finish those first. The pretest is a polish, not a substitute.
You rebook through the RSA, then book another pretest with us. Most second sittings pass. The pretest after a failed first attempt addresses the specific faults that came up on the first sheet.
No. Learners are not permitted on motorways anywhere in Ireland. Test routes never include motorway driving. After you pass, we can arrange a post-licence motorway lesson so your first time on a faster road is with an instructor.
Ready for the Test
Book the pretest now. Same routes, same car, marked feedback. Most learners come away with two or three things to clear, and a clear plan for clearing them.
